Borneo
Over Summer 2022 I had an amazing opportunity with Camps International to go and do some conservational work and help out in the communities of Borneo. Thus, this inspired me to create documentary photography in my time over there. In my photography brief in college I have chosen ‘The Photo Story’ for component one, therefore each image I produce I wanted to construct a profound narrative, through the combination of formal elements that emit a moving atmosphere and tone throughout.
Within my travels I wanted to encapsulate the work of Jay Masiel. He is an extraordinary photographer that has travelled the world and has documented it though his images. He uses many types of photography and doesn’t limit himself when he travels. He uses a range of colors within his photos to emit the strong quirky narrative of that country. Jay Masiel uses bold bright colors that convey their personalities, this will allow me to create sharp contrast against the dark color’s used within my compositions. Thus, encapsulating many elements that he has used I was able to convey strong narratives within my images, which tells a story of the environment and my travels.
