A New Leash on Life

Short Film

A New Leash on Life was my first time directing a short film and became a really important project in my development as a filmmaker. The story follows Alex, a young man struggling to find purpose who unexpectedly begins to gain confidence through dog walking — despite being highly allergic to dogs.

Directing the film taught me a huge amount about storytelling, collaboration, and leading a creative team. Working closely with the cast and crew helped me better understand how performance, pacing, and atmosphere can shape the emotional impact of a story and connect with an audience.

I was also heavily involved in the sound production side of the film, helping with Foley and ADR during post-production. Being part of that process gave me a deeper appreciation for how much sound adds to realism, emotion, and overall atmosphere, and it allowed me to develop my skills beyond directing alone.
